Apply to become an AI Carrel℠ beta tester

AI Carrel is private AI you own, not rent. It runs open-weight AI models on hardware your organization controls, so your clients' confidential information never sits in a public cloud. We're starting with small law firms and other professional practices that hold sensitive client data.

We are being selective. Beta seats are limited and offered by invitation after review. We're looking for organizations whose needs, capacity and values fit the mission, and who will give us candid feedback.

Questions marked with an asterisk (*) are required. Every other question is optional, but we strongly encourage you to answer them. Thoughtful answers are the main way we decide who joins the beta. Plan on about 15 minutes; you can save your progress and finish later.

Mission priorities survey

AI Carrel is being built by a new public benefit corporation, so its mission is part of the product. Help us set priorities: rank the aspects of the mission below from most important to you to least important.

Drag the items into order, with your top priority at the top. If you leave the list as it is, we'll read the starting order as your ranking, so please take a moment to reorder it.

Rank the aspects of AI Carrel's mission by importance to you

Client data sovereignty: our clients' private data stays on hardware we control, never in a public cloud
Professional duty: protecting privilege and confidentiality, and meeting ethics and regulatory rules
Security and control: no third-party scanning, less breach exposure, and no provider handing over our data on demand
Owning, not renting: predictable long-term costs instead of rising per-seat subscriptions
Independence: open-weight models and open standards, with no vendor lock-in
Transparency and human oversight: knowing how the AI works, with a person accountable for every output
Community benefit: shared, member-governed practices that build local skills and jobs
Environmental responsibility: energy-efficient local computing, powered by renewables where possible

Top = most important. Drag to reorder.

Why did you rank your top priority first? Is anything missing from the list?

Optional, but encouraged.

If you had to choose, which matters more to your organization?

Strongly prefer the most capable AI, even if it runs in the cloud

Lean toward capability

Both matter equally

Lean toward control of our data

Strongly prefer full control of our data, even with somewhat less capable models

Optional, but encouraged.
