I recently read a really good op-ed from Zander Arnao about how monopolies are preventing true digital growth, and what we might be missing out on by letting them have unregulated power. I reached out and ended up having a very pleasant talk with Zander, who now works at the Center for Countering Digital Hate. A simple thing to promote that non-technical people should understand would be to follow the recommendation about requiring that systems on the Internet interoperate. My sister, who is a lawyer, uses an iPhone, and my phone is Android. I end up missing some very important messages from her as a result.
