I just used Otter.AI when speaking to @joe and Otter provided this summary/answer:

Based on the meeting context, there appear to be a few key opportunities for launching a successful project in the Oceana, Michigan community:

    1. Oceana has a small population of around 20,000 people, but a high percentage of Hispanic residents (around 850 Hispanics). This could be a good opportunity to start a community-focused internet/broadband project that caters to the Hispanic population.

    2. The speaker mentions that incumbent ISPs may not be as interested in this small community, so there could be less competition for providing internet services there.

    3. If a project in Oceana is successful, it could provide case studies and momentum to then go after larger markets and customers.

    4. The speaker is already part of a private group on focused on the Oceana community, which could help coordinate and organize a project there.

Overall, the small size, high Hispanic population, and lack of major provider interest seem to present an opportunity to launch a community-focused internet/broadband project in Oceana, Michigan.

All, please let me know if Mission Telecom can provide a trial to see if we can serve the 850 Hispanic residents that @DrRon referenced. We offer affordable and high-quality wireless broadband service through the T-Mobile network. Mission Telecom is a nonprofit, spectrum license owner serving nonprofits, education institutes, and libraries. We cannot offer trial equipment at the time, but if you have an existing hotspot or router that is sim capable, we can provide the sim card with unlimited data for free for 30 days.

When Ron approached me with this underserved area, I jumped at the chance to make an impact.

Let me know if anyone wants to connect.

Dr. Ron has to set things in motion to find appropriate funding for the “qualified” underserved participants I.E. project funding- planning etc.
