Telecom companies are churning out fiber-backed bonds to private equity firms in an effort to finance new fiber-optic networks. Altogether, they’ve issued $4 billion in 2023, more than the last two years combined, according to a report in The Wall Street Journal….To pay back the bonds, companies are pledging revenue from their existing internet contracts. This is such a good deal for Wall Street that smaller companies with worse credit can sell bonds to get more money at lower interest than they could through bank loans.
