Seeking Community Manager intern
Job Overview:
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented intern to join our team to support our efforts in applying for grants and engaging community stakeholders in building a community-owned Internet network. This position offers the opportunity to contribute to a transformative project that aims to enhance digital inclusion and connectivity in our community. The ideal candidate will have strong research and communication skills, be passionate about community development, and have the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Grant Application Support:
- Assist in identifying potential grant opportunities relevant to community network projects.
- Support the preparation and submission of grant applications, including researching background information, compiling necessary documentation, and drafting sections of proposals.
- Help maintain a database of grant applications, including tracking deadlines, submission requirements, and application statuses.
- Community Outreach and Engagement:
- Participate in outreach efforts to engage community stakeholders, including local businesses, community organizations, educational institutions, and residents, in the development of a community-owned Internet network.
- Assist in organizing and facilitating community meetings, workshops, and other events to gather input and build support for the project.
- Help develop and distribute outreach materials, such as flyers, newsletters, and social media content, to raise awareness and generate interest in the community network initiative.
- Collect and compile feedback from community stakeholders to inform project development and grant applications.
- Administrative and Coordination Tasks:
- Schedule and coordinate meetings, including sending invitations, preparing meeting materials, and taking minutes. (AI CAN TAKE MINUTES)
- Perform administrative tasks as needed to support project management and team communication.
- Contribute to the development of presentations and reports for internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a degree program in Communication, Public Administration, Information Technology, Urban Planning, or a related field.
- Strong research and writing skills, with the ability to compile and synthesize information from various sources.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a comfort level engaging with diverse community groups.
- Organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
- Interest in digital inclusion, community development, and the principles of community-owned networks.
- Proficiency in Google Suite and experience with social media platforms.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
